Materials used to produce bearings, has great effect on the bearings’ performance and reliability. General consideration of bearing ring and rolling body includes: hardness which is related to the bearing capacity, lubrication fatigue under   rolling contact and different clearance, and the stability of the dimension. For Holder, the friction, strain and the inertial force should be taken into consideration, and in some cases chemistry reaction of lubricants, solvents, coolant and refrigerant should also be taken into consideration. The relative importance of these factors is also influenced by other working parameters, such as corrosion, high temperature, impact load or a combination of these factors.

Contact seal which embedded in the rolling bearing, also has significant influence to the performance and reliability of the bearing. Materials used in the manufacturing must have good oxidation resistance, thermal and chemical resistance performance.
